Dr. Nicole Dezrea Bao (formerly Jenkins) proudly serves as a World Afro Day™ Ambassador, a global initiative dedicated to the celebration, education, and liberation of Afro hair culture and identity. Selected by founder Michelle De Leon, Dr. Bao joins an international cohort of change-makers committed to advancing hair equity, dismantling texturism, and advocating for institutional policies that affirm the beauty and rights of Afro-textured hair.
As an Ambassador, Dr. Bao uses her platform as a sociologist, Psychohairapist, and public scholar to amplify the movement through academic research, public speaking, and grassroots engagement. Her work aligns directly with World Afro Day’s mission to normalize Afro hair in all spaces, from classrooms to courtrooms, and from boardrooms to beauty salons.
